CLYR's PT-141 + Oxytocin is a small dissolving tablet that pairs two compounds aimed at different parts of desire and closeness. Each tablet contains bremelanotide (PT-141) 2mg and oxytocin 40 IU, and it dissolves under the tongue about 45 minutes before intimacy. This guide covers what each ingredient is, why they are combined, what the evidence does and does not show, and what the tablet costs.

The short answer

PT-141 acts on melanocortin receptors in the brain that are involved in sexual desire and arousal. Oxytocin is a hormone tied to bonding, touch and closeness. The combination is a compounded prescription, prepared by a state-licensed compounding pharmacy after a licensed provider reviews your intake. It is prescribed to men and women, taken on demand rather than daily, and it costs $119 for 10 tablets or $169 for 30 tablets, billed once. Nothing renews.

What PT-141 is

PT-141 is the research name for bremelanotide. An FDA-approved injectable form exists: a 1.75mg injection under the skin, approved for premenopausal women with acquired, generalized hypoactive sexual desire disorder (HSDD). Its label says not to use more than one dose in 24 hours and notes that more than eight doses a month is not recommended. The most common side effect in the label is nausea, reported by about 40% of women in the trials, and the label describes a transient rise in blood pressure after each dose.

The phase 3 RECONNECT trials that supported approval found that bremelanotide improved desire scores and reduced distress compared with placebo in premenopausal women with HSDD (Kingsberg 2019). Earlier work in men tested an intranasal form alongside sildenafil in a small study of 19 men and reported an enhanced erectile response compared with sildenafil alone (Diamond 2005). That study was small and short, so it should be read as early evidence, not a settled result.

CLYR's tablet is not the approved product. It is a compounded sublingual tablet at a different strength and by a different route, and it has not been studied in the trials above. Compounded medications are not FDA-approved and have not been reviewed by the FDA for safety or effectiveness.

What oxytocin adds

Oxytocin is a hormone the body releases during touch, sex and childbirth, and it is closely linked to bonding and trust. The idea behind adding it is simple: PT-141 targets desire, while oxytocin targets the sense of connection that often makes intimacy feel easier.

The evidence for oxytocin on its own is mixed, and it is worth being plain about that. A randomized trial of intranasal oxytocin 32 IU in women with low sexual function found no difference from placebo on the main sexual function score, although both groups improved (Muin 2015). A study of couples using intranasal oxytocin reported small effects on some parts of the sexual experience and partner interaction rather than a large overall change (Behnia 2014). Neither study tested oxytocin together with PT-141, and neither used a dissolving tablet. If you want more background, our guide to oxytocin nasal spray and bonding covers the hormone on its own.

Why combine them in one tablet

The case for the combination is practical. One tablet covers two ideas, desire and closeness, with one timing rule. It dissolves under the tongue, so there is no injection and no water needed. And because it is taken on demand, you only use it on days you plan to.

What the combination does not have is its own trial. There is no published study of PT-141 and oxytocin together in a dissolving tablet. A provider who prescribes it is relying on what is known about each ingredient, your history, and how you respond. That is a reasonable basis for a prescription, but it is not the same as proof that the pair works better than either alone.

How it is used

Side effects and who should not use it

Based on the approved bremelanotide label, the side effects to expect are nausea, flushing and headache, and blood pressure can rise for a few hours after a dose. For that reason, uncontrolled high blood pressure and known cardiovascular disease are hard stops for this tablet, and your provider will ask about both during intake. The label also notes that bremelanotide can slow how quickly some oral medicines are absorbed, so tell your provider about everything you take.

Oxytocin given this way is generally well tolerated in studies, but it is still a hormone. Tell your provider if you are pregnant, could be pregnant, or are breastfeeding.

Frequently asked questions

Is PT-141 + Oxytocin FDA-approved?

No. It is a compounded prescription prepared by a state-licensed compounding pharmacy. The only FDA-approved bremelanotide is a 1.75mg injection for premenopausal women with HSDD. Compounded medications are not FDA-approved.

Can men use it?

Yes. CLYR's tablet is prescribed to both men and women after a provider review. The approved injectable form is labeled only for premenopausal women, so use in men is off-label.

How long before intimacy should I take it?

About 45 minutes before. Dissolve it under the tongue and take no more than one in 24 hours.

Does the oxytocin make a proven difference?

Not proven. Studies of oxytocin alone show mixed results, and the combination has not been tested in its own trial. It is included for its role in bonding and closeness.

Does it renew automatically?

No. Both options are billed once. You reorder only if you want more.

The bottom line

PT-141 + Oxytocin pairs a desire-focused compound with a bonding hormone in one on-demand tablet. PT-141 has trial evidence in its approved injectable form; oxytocin's evidence is mixed, and the combination has no trial of its own. It costs $119 for 10 or $169 for 30, billed once, and a licensed provider decides whether it is appropriate. Start your free intake, or read more about PT-141 for libido.
