Zepbound is the brand-name, FDA-approved version manufactured by Eli Lilly. It comes in a pre-filled KwikPen, no mixing, no vials, no separate syringes. Compounded tirzepatide is prepared by a compounding pharmacy and has not been reviewed by the FDA. Both contain tirzepatide, but Zepbound has undergone full FDA clinical trials for safety and efficacy.

Zepbound® (tirzepatide) is a prescription medication. It is indicated as an adjunct to a reduced calorie diet and increased physical activity for chronic weight management in adults with an initial BMI of 30 kg/m² or greater, or 27 kg/m² or greater with at least one weight-related comorbid condition. Zepbound contains a boxed warning regarding the risk of thyroid C-cell tumors. It is contraindicated in patients with a personal or family history of medullary thyroid carcinoma or Multiple Endocrine Neoplasia syndrome type 2.
