Quick question

Where are you starting?

Tapping an option just moves you to the right part of this page. It is not a medical assessment. The real questionnaire happens after you pick a plan.

Know the formula

Four ingredients. One spray.

Two medicines do the heavy lifting: minoxidil for growth and finasteride for DHT. Two helpers make them work on skin: tretinoin helps them soak in, and fluocinolone keeps the scalp comfortable.

Minoxidil 7%
Pushes resting follicles back into the growth phase and keeps growing hairs growing longer. This prescription strength and combination differ from the minoxidil sold over the counter.
The growth front
Finasteride 0.2%
Lowers DHT, the hormone that shrinks follicles at the hairline and crown, right where you apply it. Topical does not mean none reaches the body: some is absorbed and can cause the same side effects as the tablet.
The DHT front
Tretinoin 0.025%
A retinoid that speeds up skin turnover so minoxidil reaches the follicle more easily. It can irritate the scalp and make it more sensitive, especially in the first weeks.
Absorption helper
Fluocinolone 0.025%
Fluocinolone acetonide, a mild topical corticosteroid, calms the redness and itch minoxidil and tretinoin can cause. Duration matters: prolonged use can cause skin thinning and other effects.
Calms irritation

Topical finasteride and minoxidil at 7% are used off-label for hair loss. This is an individually prescribed compounded medication, and compounded medications are not FDA-approved and have not been reviewed by the FDA for safety, effectiveness or quality. Ingredient research does not establish the safety or results of this exact combination. Read the science behind the formula.

How it works

Hair loss has two causes. This spray treats both.

Most products go after one. Male pattern hair loss needs both handled at once, which is why dermatologists pair these two medicines. The spray puts both right on your scalp.

WITHOUT FINASTERIDEWITH FINASTERIDETestosteroneDHTFollicle shrinksTestosteroneDHTLess shrinkingFinasteride blocks the enzyme that turns testosterone into DHT.
Front one · the brake

DHT shrinks the follicle. Finasteride blocks it.

A byproduct of testosterone called DHT binds to follicles at the hairline and crown and shrinks them a little every growth cycle, until the hair they make is thin, then short, then gone. Finasteride blocks the enzyme that makes DHT. Sprayed on, it goes to work where those follicles are, though some is still absorbed into the body.

Front two · the accelerator

Follicles stall. Minoxidil restarts them.

Every follicle cycles between growing and resting. Minoxidil pushes resting follicles back into the growth phase and keeps growing ones growing longer, so more of your hair is growing at once. Tretinoin helps it reach the follicle, and fluocinolone keeps the scalp calm enough to stay with it.

What to expect

Hair grows in months. Here is the timeline.

Every head of hair moves at its own pace. Here is what many men notice, and when it is fair to judge.

  1. Weeks 1 to 8

    Some shedding, on purpose

Many men shed more at first. It is common and expected: restarted follicles push out the old resting hairs. It usually settles within a couple of months.

  2. Months 3 to 6

    First visible changes

Some men notice less hair in the drain, thicker strands or a hairline that holds; for others it takes longer. This is the earliest fair point to judge.

  3. Month 12 and on

    The longer view

For many men, change keeps building for a year or more. Starting earlier, while there is more to keep, tends to go further.

  4. Every day after

Keep using it to keep it

These medicines work while you use them. Stop, and the DHT shrinking resumes and the gains fade over the following months.

Every man responds differently, and no amount of regrowth is guaranteed. Photos in the same lighting each month show change better than a mirror.

How to use it

Use it right. Keep it on your scalp.

Your pharmacy label sets the amount and how often. These four habits help the spray do its job and keep the medicine on your scalp, not on anyone else.

Follow your label

Use the amount and frequency on your prescription label. The prescribed volume is not a verified number of sprays, so ask the pharmacy how to measure it with the supplied dispenser.

Apply to a dry scalp

Part your hair and apply it to the dry scalp, not just the hair, as your label directs. Keep it away from your eyes, lips, face and any broken skin.

Wash your hands after

Wash your hands right after each use, and keep the spray from transferring to other people, children or pets. Finasteride can pass through skin: anyone who is or may become pregnant must not touch the spray or your wet, treated scalp.

Never double up

Do not use extra, and do not layer another minoxidil product on top. If you notice new shedding, irritation or other symptoms, report them rather than increasing the amount yourself.

Two medicines. Two helpers. One spray.

Why a spray

Why put both medicines on the scalp?

The tablet and the spray use the same two medicines. The spray applies them where the follicles are, with two helpers built in for the scalp.

Both fronts, no pill

Some men would rather not take an oral medicine every day. The spray works on both drivers of male pattern hair loss from the outside instead, as part of your routine.

Why tretinoin is in it

Minoxidil has to get through the skin’s tough outer layer to reach the follicle. Tretinoin speeds up skin turnover, which helps it get in. That is why the two have long been studied and prescribed together.

Why a mild steroid is in it

Minoxidil and tretinoin can leave the scalp red, itchy or flaky, a common reason people quit. Fluocinolone is a mild topical steroid that calms that irritation. Prolonged use can thin the skin, which is why it is used only as prescribed.

Why 7%

Minoxidil sold over the counter stops at 5%. This prescription formula uses 7%, compounded for you by a state-licensed pharmacy. A higher strength can also mean more irritation, which is one reason fluocinolone is in the formula.

Who it suits

Built for one kind of hair loss. Know if it is yours.

A good fit if

  • Your hair is thinning at the crown, the hairline or both, and it came on gradually
  • Hair loss runs in your family
  • You want minoxidil and finasteride working for you, without a daily pill
  • You have tried store-bought minoxidil and want a prescription formula

Look elsewhere first if

  • The loss was sudden, or it comes in patches or round bald spots
  • Your scalp has open wounds, an infection or an undiagnosed rash
  • You have uncontrolled heart disease or a blood-pressure condition
  • You or your partner is pregnant or may become pregnant, and could come into contact with the spray or your treated scalp
  • You were assigned female at birth: the Women’s Hair Spray is finasteride-free and built for you

The questionnaire also screens for ingredient allergies and other precautions before anything is prescribed.

Questions

Answered plainly.

It can, and every man responds differently. Minoxidil and finasteride are strongest at stopping further loss and thickening hair that is thinning, and they can regrow hair where follicles are still alive. Starting earlier tends to go further. Results vary and are not guaranteed.

Give it three to six months of use as prescribed before you judge it. Many men keep seeing change for a year or more, and every man moves at his own pace. Hair grows slowly, and no medicine changes that pace. Photos in the same lighting each month show change better than a mirror.

Yes. Minoxidil pushes resting follicles into a new growth phase, and they shed the old resting hair first. It usually settles within a couple of months. Do not use more to fight it: report new shedding or irritation rather than increasing the amount yourself.

Your pharmacy label sets the amount and how often. The prescribed volume is not a verified number of sprays, so ask the pharmacy how to measure it with the supplied dispenser. Apply it to a dry scalp, keep it away from your eyes, lips, face and broken skin, and wash your hands afterward. Do not layer another minoxidil product on top unless your prescription says to.

The spray puts minoxidil and finasteride on the scalp, for men who would rather not take a pill. The tablet is one pill a day that works on both fronts from the inside, with nothing to apply. Topical does not mean risk-free, and the spray is not the same as the tablet. Compare all four options.

Some does. Applied to the scalp, it works where the follicles are, but part of it is absorbed and can cause the same kinds of side effects as the tablet, including sexual side effects and mood changes. Anyone who is or may become pregnant must not handle the spray or touch your wet, treated scalp.

The most common are scalp redness, itching, dryness or flaking, mostly from minoxidil and tretinoin. Minoxidil can grow unwanted hair on the forehead or face if the spray runs or transfers from your hands. Fluocinolone is a steroid, and prolonged use can thin the skin. Finasteride can cause sexual side effects or mood changes. Report dizziness, a fast heartbeat or swelling, and get urgent care for trouble breathing or swelling of the face or throat.

Yes, to keep the results. These medicines manage an ongoing process. If you stop, the DHT shrinking resumes and the gains fade over the following months. Think of it as a long-term routine, not a one-time fix.

Anyone assigned female at birth, anyone who is pregnant, planning a pregnancy or breastfeeding, and anyone allergic to minoxidil, tretinoin, fluocinolone or finasteride. Open wounds, an infection or an undiagnosed rash on the scalp, and uncontrolled heart or blood-pressure conditions also need attention first. If your partner is pregnant or you are trying to conceive, say so in the questionnaire.

Follow the storage instructions and the beyond-use or expiration date on your pharmacy label, and do not assume another product’s storage rules apply. Check that the label shows your name, the medicine and the strength, and contact us before use if anything differs from your prescription. Keep it away from children and pets.

No. It is an individually prescribed compounded medication, prepared for you by a state-licensed 503A pharmacy. Compounded medications are not FDA-approved and have not been reviewed by the FDA for safety, effectiveness or quality. Ingredient research does not establish the safety or results of this exact combination. Topical finasteride and minoxidil at 7% are used off-label for hair loss.

No. You pay once, for one bottle or the 3-bottle pack. At the usual 1 mL once a day a bottle lasts about two months, but your prescription label has the final word. When you want more, reorder from your portal.
